SAMANTHA MARKS My rollercoaster strategy has always been to push my body out a little when the attendants come around to do safety checks, so the harness is loose and I can experience a short free fall on that first big drop. It’s an adequately safe practice. Nothing can really go wrong, in a case of that much steel and engineering. Vol 13, Issue 1
TYSON HOLLOWAY-CLARKE There are people out there in the wide world who have only just found out about their Indigenous heritage. For some, it is a less recent occurrence, but something they haven’t really acted on. For me this is unthinkable and alien. My father and mother, aunties and uncles, have always told me that I am a proud Aboriginal man for as long as I can remember. I cannot recall a time in my life where I didn’t know I was Aboriginal. My understanding of being Aboriginal would evolve over time but I always have had that label. On top of that, the people I meet find out pretty quickly. Vol 13, Issue 1
VALERIE NG THE SQUARE features dark-haired, scarf-wearing art curator ‘Christian’ as he fumbles through a blur of baffling situations, dealing with art, theft, beggars, society, sex, and the meaning of a particular four-sided shape. While the film attempts to masquerade as an artful social critique, it falls flat in its lack of focus, and emerges as a bland and uninspired whine about the general pitfalls of society. WEITE LI In late June 2017 after final exams, I commenced a 6-month internship in a Singapore law firm. I can’t remember why I did this without any hesitation. I made up my mind almost immediately after I saw the Singapore “Work Holiday Pass” (WHP) from a website. Having sat the Chinese Bar and MLS’s common law training, it was not that hard to find an internship position. After receiving the WHP from the Singapore authorities, confirming my salary with my firm, and finishing my “Leave of Absence” procedures with Stop 1, I left Melbourne right after the last exam and started mymemorable adventure in Singapore, a country I’ve never visited before. EQUITY UNCLE
Welcome back little Law Darlings! Equity had a delightful break - thank you for asking. Equity has a tan. However, Equity’s gallivanting with the Lord Chancellor was cut short as the ever-attentive, overly enthusiastic editors at De Minimis have cracked the proverbial whip and demanded more devilishly clever and fantastically informative articles. Indeed, the eager beavers in the editorial team had the audacity to suggest that Equity needs an introduction. Outrageous. DUNCAN WILLIS
Dear first years, It was about time we introduced ourselves to you all - sorry if that sounded ominous. |
