De Minimis is published weekly each Tuesday during semester. Each issue's deadline for submission is the previous Friday at 8pm.
Submission Requirements
To submit, please send your work to [email protected]. Articles sent to our editors through any other avenue will not be accepted.
Please format the article title as 'Title'_'Author name' (Year level)
E.g. Great Article_Jane Doe (3L)
We mostly accept pieces between 500-800 words in length, but shorter pieces may also be accepted. If a piece sent in is grossly over the 800 word limit, you may be asked to edit and re-submit.
Please include hyperlinks in your work, if you are referring to outside sources. Also, if you are writing directly about other people/companies, it's wise to let them know about the article - it's good journalistic practice. The best contributions often include sources for factual assertions in the article, usually in the form of hyperlinks, notes or disclosures.
Publishing Policy
Our editors publish most things, except articles that are defamatory, grossly offensive or low quality. The limitations of our 4-page print issue will sometimes mean that articles will be delayed in publication, or will only be published online.
Anonymous articles
De Minimis prefers that students attach their name to their articles as this can often encourage articles to be more honest and reflective. However, we understand that there are many reasons to publish anonymously. If you would like to do this, please indicate it within your email.
What do we publish?
We publish anything that a law student might be interested in reading. This includes articles about life both inside and outside the law school.
Creative, fictional and artistic contributions are always welcome!
Note to writers
As De Minimis publishes weekly, the editing process requires prompt responses by writers in accepting/rejecting our edits, or making necessary changes, if any have been specified. If you have been notified by us that your piece is being published with us in the next week, please check the google doc by Sunday night and resolve all comments by then. Failure to do so may mean that we will delay publication of that piece until all edits have been completed.
