This year, the LSS is putting together a Graduate Yearbook, to be released online. We're hoping that everyone will get involved, it's very easy, it will only take you 5 minutes or so. It involves answering 3-4 questions (you can choose from about 10) about your time at MLS, submitting a small headshot photo, which will be collated into the yearbook. There is also a section down the bottom titled "Memories" which gives you a bit more space to share a particular memory from your time doing law. These will be in a section by themselves. https://mulss.wufoo.com/forms/2014-yearbook/

I chose to do the ANU Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (GDLP) because it allowed me to complete it while I work full-time. by our Hong Kong alumnus correspondent
On Sunday night in Hong Kong, the first can of teargas exploded over protesters in a district called Admiralty. Momentarily, people dispersed somewhat, as the police held up black signs that read: “WARNING: TEAR SMOKE”. The signs were double-sided, possibly for the police’s convenience. The other side of the signs had an orange background, and the words on them read: “DISPERSE OR WE FIRE”. In 2013 the English Law Reform Commission released an informal paper which debunked many myths about English law. It also confirmed the existence of several peculiar laws. The findings are summarized below.

In 1964, five words brought to life a concept that we now take for granted: “the medium is the message”. Marshall McLuhan’s then-radical, now-truistic phrase argued that the way we communicate information can determine that information’s impact. Peter Botros
It has been a little over two years since MLS student Dan Wright passed away in a motorcycle accident whilst on a scenic cruise in the Dandenong Mountains. Dan was in his first year of law when inexplicable circumstances led to him coming off his motorcycle, and a lack of phone reception meant that help was unable to reach him in time. I was lucky enough to know Dan since 2008 and last week a couple of his friends and I made our annual homage to Warburton to visit the makeshift memorial site commemorating him. |
