Issue 12, Semester 1 By Bill Pilla I was so ready for a shitfight in the comments from last week’s edition of De Minimis. At this stage in semester, I need a bloodbath with a flute of schadenfreude on the side. Not only did we have Politically-Correct-Cultural-Hysteria around content warnings, but also an article about cultural appropriation. Where were you, concerned citizen, to advocate for the rights of the level-headed? The rational and objective thinkers who are entitled to their opinions because free speech or some shit? nstead, we got a few witty barbs and some relatively civil discussion coupled with a genuine desire to learn and understand one another. That’s not the De Minimis comments section we’ve all come to know and love. I implore you, o wise anon, to come back. Bring some free thought into this leftist pee-pee soaked heck hole.
Have you given up on explaining to women why their concerns about sexual harassment are misguided or about the ‘grey areas’ of consent? Or to PoC as to why their experiences of racism are probably not real? The fuck are we going to do without your nuance, your lived experience and your input about whether we should really recognise cultural and social issues as having a demonstrable impact on others? Oh, that’s right. We’re going to make some meaningful changes in teaching approaches, and foster an environment where students feel supported enough to raise sensitive and difficult ideas. We’re going to perpetuate the kinds of respect and understanding that are so often missing in the world. We’re going to try to make the place slightly better than it was when we entered it. Fuck’s sake. Bill Pilla is a mysterious figure who lurks around the Law Building

Gee the articles in De Minimis have really gone downhill if this got a gig this week. Must be a quiet time with exams I guess. Comments are closed.
