Author: Ted I. Yuss-Reading SLEEP City Hostel Geneva is an affordable accommodation that is centrally located and a short walk from the main train station in Geneva. You are limited in hostel options for Geneva, so this one (which is one of only two hostel options in Geneva - the other one being a YHA) books up pretty fast. I would recommend making a reservation a few weeks in advance, especially during the summer (June/July/Aug). http://www.cityhostel.ch/english/
EAT The food is pretty expensive in Geneva, but the food store called Migros has affordable prepared meals. I would recommend grabbing some friends and sorting out a picnic near the lake for cheap eating. TIPS To cut down on bank fees or any foreign transaction charges, I would recommend sorting out a travel credit card before leaving Australia. Two options I found are: 1) Commonwealth Bank's Travel Money Card (https://www.commbank.com.au/personal/travel/travel-money-card.html) and 2) 28 Degrees Mastercard (http://www.28degreescard.com.au/). The travel money card with Commonwealth Bank is excellent for any international students that do not have permanent residency, as most other credit card options will require citizenship or permanent residency.
